Latest Updates from Our Project:

Wow! We made it! Thank you all!
almost 5 years ago – Tue, May 07, 2019 at 10:40:23 AM

Wow. Only 61 hours and we already reached the goal! That was quite unexpected. But very nice! So let's start by thanking you all for your support. I'll go and call both Kilsdonk and DTR so they can start production on the handcrafted game boxes and white metal miniatures.

Reaching the goal so early we'll have to hurry thinking about stretch goals. Suggestions are most welcome, so please come forward if you have any cool ideas. I'll consult my manufacturers to see what they can do.

In the mean time, we'll spend a moment or two celebrating, if you don't mind. Perhaps by playing a game of Rollecate...

New pledge level: Three copies of Rollecate
almost 5 years ago – Mon, May 06, 2019 at 04:08:19 AM

For those not living in The Netherlands, shipping costs for this game are - unfortunately - very high. To compensate, there was a "Two copies of Rollecate" pledge level: for the same shipping fee, you would receive two copies. I figured some of you might actually like to receive 3 copies and the gap with the "Group pledge" might be a bit too big. So good news: I added a "Three copies of Rollecate" pledge level.

If you already ordered two copies, if you like you can update your pledge to receive 3 copies. For only 20 euros extra, you will receive an extra copy. Including shipping to the US, that would reduce the cost per copy to about 28 euro (or $32).

Second day, 70% funded and a little story about Rollecate
almost 5 years ago – Sun, May 05, 2019 at 12:12:09 PM

Hi all. The campaign is underway for slightly more than 36 hours and we are well on our way to get this project funded! Big thanks to everyone! I just had a chat with Kilsdonk about the luxury game box they will be making. Later this week I will visit them. Exciting!

A little story about Rollecate

Rollecate is not a made up name for a made up steam locomotive. The thing is quite real and was built in the late 60s by a self-taught steam engineer. Rollecate was initially just a fun project Kees Neve had been working on. But some day, an amusement park contacted Kees and asked him whether his locomotive was for sale.

Apparently, the locomotive indeed was for sale. This amusement park was looking for a Western style locomotive. At the time, Rollecate was quite near completion. But it wasn't a Western train. So Neve had to make some adjustments. He changed the exhaust pipe, added a pilot a lantern and various other details. Let's take a look at the before and after pictures.

So this was the locomotive before its metamorphosis:

By the time Kees Neve was done changing the engine into a Western style locomotive, it looked like this:

Rollecate as a Western-style locomotive

When you look carefully, you can see it's still the same engine. After its metamorphosis, Rollecate made many laps in the amusement park. But not anymore. Right now it's sitting in an old barn, waiting for its new track to be built!

Live for half a day and almost 40% funded already
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 04, 2019 at 10:56:21 AM

So, a first quick update. The project has been live on Kickstarter for just over 12 hours now and right now we are almost at 1000 euro. That means we are really close to being half funded. Very exciting!

To celibrate, let me share a 3D-image of the train miniature. I just got word from the caster that work on the mould will start monday!
